Biography
"Korby is like the Love Boat's cruise director Julie, as played by Joan Jett." - Las Vegas Weekly (2005)
E. Korby is a one-woman idea factory. Some are good, some are bad. But she keeps coming up with them, the crazy ideas.
After working in the music business for several years in New York City, and living in Vegas from 2003-2009 where she shifted much of her focus to television production, Korby is finally bringing herself back to where it all began: the stage.
She has created a musical theatrical stage adaptation of a popular cult cartoon series from the 1980's. She has co-created a few fab television concepts which are perpetually in the "development" stage. She sings her tuchus off at clubs like B.B. Kings and Le Poisson Rouge. She slings a mean cocktail and is also in the "development" process with an idea that would allow many people to drink these coktails in one place, at the same time. Yes...Korby is in the process of working on all of these things, and will be updating her friends and acquaintances via facebook or twitter (thekorbinator), if you care...
Korby has a rich and storied history in the entertainment industry, which she has tried to compress into this neat little timeline for your reading enjoyment. Here's the long story short:
1997 - Korby moves to New York City the summer before her junior year at Emerson College. Works in the publicity dept of Mercury Records and lives in NYU dorms. Gets hooked on the music business; decides to stay in New York when summer is over.
1997-1998 - Procures a full time position at Wind-Up Records working publicity for Creed's debut album, My Own Prison. Loves the gig (who wouldn't at 20?), hates the band (no explanation needed here). Applies to transfer to Gallatin School at NYU and is accepted.
1998-2000 - Finishes her education at NYU's Gallatin School majoring in "The Sociology of Popular Culture" while working in the publicity dept. of DelsenerSlater, the largest concert promoter in the New York tri-state area.
2000-2001 - Brought on to work in DelsenerSlater CEO Mitch Slater's office. Handles lots of VIP tickets and goes to lots of concerts. Promotes dirty rock parties on the side. Meets a lot of poeple. Drinks a lot of whiskey. Enjoys her youth.
2001-2003 - When SFX/DelsenerSlater is sold to Clear Channel in 2001, Korby goes to work at Evolution Talent Agency, handling day-to-day tour coordination for the likes of Britney Spears, *NSYNC, and Backstreet Boys at the height of their success. Promotes rock parties at Lit and Don Hill's. Continues to party for fun and profit.
2003-2004 - Moves to Las Vegas and contiues to DJ and promote rock parties, but realizes the market is, ehem, quite different. Shifts her focus to television production work, specifically reality programming, since production companies seem to really like shooting in Vegas. Full disclosure: Vegas is a LOT cooler on television.
2005- Continues to freelance in television production and coordinate events for various clients throwing trade show-related parties. Works the occasional live music event via her old network of contacts. Appears on both Caesars: 24/7 and Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations as her temporary alter ego: Korby the Rock Concierge.
2006-2009 - Continues to freelance. Holds several production positions for various projects including Production Coordinator for Prince: 3121 at the Rio, Field Producer for DAV Productions, and works on reality productions for Food Network, The CW, and MTV among others.
2010 - Working on several creative projects including two television shows, expanding her Rock Concierge service, and belting out vocals for fun and profit. To find out more visit:
